Rachel Winters (she/her)

Associate Clinical Social Worker #99450

From an early age I was always interested in Sociology and Philosophy. I was amazed at how uniquely different every human experience could be and yet there were these core fundamental feelings that all humans shared. During my formative years I developed a passion for helping others, seeking diverse spaces, and lending a listening ear to friends. The gift of intentional listening stayed with me, and I decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University. After a few years of working in the field I continued in my studies at Cal State Long Beach and currently hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health. My time in Los Angeles and the experience with the diverse culture here has truly shaped who I am as a person.

About me

My educational training and work experience has allowed me to gain specific skills to better understand a person within their environment. This includes individuals, group, and marginalized community assessments. I have over 10 years’ experience working in nonprofits and county contracted agencies providing trauma informed care for individuals experiencing family violence, mental health, and housing insecurity. I believe a whole person approach and understanding a person within the system they intersect is critical when working with clients as these experiences often define our reality.

During your sessions I hope to create a consistent, safe, nurturing environment for growth and healing. The primary goal of our time together will be for me to support you in becoming the best version of yourself possible. We will build on your strengths and carefully unpack the underlying themes in your life. As a result, you will gain a deeper understanding of your past and present experiences while, taking steps toward creating the life you love. I will utilize motivational interviewing and a strengths-based approach to support you in this journey.

I will celebrate your successes and triumphs and also, sit with you in your grief and pain. As your therapist I am committed to being present, consistent, and empathetic. Most importantly, you will direct the speed at which we navigate the therapeutic process.  Each session will be client driven to ensure your specific needs are being met. I am committed to merging whole person care and evidenced based best practice. Therapy is an art and each session will be tailored especially for you.

Previous clients had described me as compassionate, transparent, and personable. They described our time together as informative, fun and grounding. My friends and family describe me as a motivated and organized creative individual who makes intentional connections with those I encounter.
